Lab-grown diamonds, IGI reports, custom orders and payments.

Lab-grown diamonds

What is a lab-grown diamond?

Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds: they have the same chemical, physical and optical properties as mined diamonds, but they're grown in a laboratory instead of mined from the earth. Every lab-grown diamond we sell is IGI-graded, and its report identifies it as laboratory-grown.

How are lab-grown diamonds different from mined diamonds?

They look and wear the same. Lab-grown diamonds typically cost noticeably less than mined diamonds of similar size and quality, so you can often choose a larger or higher-grade stone for your budget. They’re also grown without mining.

Will a lab-grown diamond last?

Yes. Lab-grown diamonds are as hard and durable as mined diamonds (10 on the Mohs scale) and are made for everyday wear.

IGI reports

What is an IGI report?

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is one of the world’s leading independent diamond grading labs. An IGI report documents a stone’s shape, carat weight, color, clarity, cut and measurements, and confirms it is lab-grown.

Do your lab-grown diamonds come with IGI reports?

Every center stone is IGI-graded, and we’ll share the report for your specific stone before you commit. Smaller accent stones (such as halo or pavé stones) are not individually graded.

How can I verify an IGI report?

Every IGI report has a unique report number, and the same number is laser-inscribed on the lab-grown diamond’s girdle. Enter the number at igi.org’s “Verify Your Report” page (igi.org/verify-your-report) to see the official record, then compare it with your report. We’re happy to walk you through it.

Custom orders

Are the rings on your site in stock?

The designs on our site are inspiration. Custom work is our specialty, so most pieces are made to order around your vision. Ask us about stones we currently have available.

How does the custom-order process work?
  1. Tell us what you have in mind: the piece, style or inspiration photos, stone shape and size, metal, ring size, budget and any date you’re working toward.
  2. We help you choose your IGI-graded lab-grown diamond and confirm the design details.
  3. We provide your quote and share the design with you. You approve the design before anything goes into production. (We don’t necessarily use CAD renderings for every piece.)
  4. Once you approve the design, a 50% deposit starts production, and your piece is crafted.
  5. The remaining balance is due once your ring is completed.
  6. Your finished piece is delivered with its IGI report.

Payment details are on our payment page. Questions about returns or refunds? See our Returns & Refunds page or email liam@olddadtx.com.

How long does a custom piece take?

Timing depends on the design, the stone and the season, but we aim to have most pieces completed within a few weeks. We’ll give you an estimated timeline with your quote.

What metals do you work with?

We work with all metals, including yellow, white and rose gold and platinum. Just tell us what you’d like.

How do I find my ring size?

A local jeweler can size you in minutes, which is the most accurate option. Resizing is included.

Payments

How can I pay?

You can pay securely on our payment page:

  • PayPal: credit or debit card, Venmo, Apple Pay or Google Pay
  • Stripe secure link: card, Cash App Pay, Klarna, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay or bank payment
Do I pay everything up front?

No. Custom pieces require a 50% deposit to begin, and the remaining balance is due once your ring is completed.

Do you offer financing or pay-later?

Yes. Klarna is available through our Stripe checkout. See our payment page for current options.
